During the maneuver, the Lincoln collided head-on with a northbound Freightliner semi-truck towing a 53-foot trailer. Slone was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Freightliner, identified as 33-year-old Narinder Addr Singh of Yuba City, California, was not injured. A passenger in the Lincoln sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The crash caused a significant closure along Highway 97 as emergency responders and investigators worked at the scene. The roadway was affected for approximately four hours. Chiloquin Fire and Rescue and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted Oregon State Police with the response.
